b. New York, USA, lives and works in London, UK & New York.
Throughout his multifaceted practice, Kevin Siwoff explores questions that emerge from artistic processes as well as the interiority of the human condition, uncovering hidden truths and contradictions in the spaces between image and memory, individual and collective identity. In his ongoing family paintings, Siwoff reinterprets the notion of a personal archive as an operator, by training a specially-configured AI to generate new imagery from his family's entire home video collection. Siwoff prompts the AI with both descriptive text and mark making, and the AI generates images as its response. The images are then rendered in paint by the artist’s hand or layered with the original marks in a hybridized digital/physical process.
Siwoff’s work has been exhibited internationally, including Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam, NL (2022), Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, DE (2021), South Kiosk Gallery, London, UK, (2020), 9To5: Works In Progress, Atlanta, USA (2017), New Museum IDEAS City Festival, NY, USA (2015), 14th International Architecture Biennale, Venice, IT (2014). He earned an MA from the Royal College of Art in London.
